Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky's Abraham Lincoln
Through engaging imagery, artifacts, hands-on activities, and Lincoln's own words, Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky's Abraham Lincoln presents the untold story of Lincoln's lifelong engagement with Kentucky and Kentuckians -- an engagement that shaped his life, helped pave the way for his political rise, and during the Civil War, kept Kentucky in the Union.
Taking a broad view of Lincoln memory in Kentucky from the assassination to the current bicentennial, Beyond the Log Cabin also explores the complex relationship between Abraham Lincoln and his native state of Kentucky to deepen our understanding of this extraordinary, yet ordinary, man and the state that reluctantly came to embrace him. It is a remarkable, reflective story that speaks to a changing Kentucky, and looks to Lincoln's life and character as a source of inspiration for our collective future.
The exhibition will open October 20, 2008 at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.
