Grants

Through funding made available by the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission (KALBC), an extensive competitive grants program for Lincoln-related projects was funded through the Kentucky Arts Council, the Kentucky Heritage Council, the Kentucky Historical Society, and the Kentucky Humanities Council.

The grants to museums, historical organizations, educational institutions, city and county governments and other non-profit organizations, were used to support a variety of themes relating to Lincoln and Kentucky, including slavery, nineteenth-century political culture, the Civil War, and Lincoln's legacy today. Funded projects included educational programs, exhibits, public art, community celebrations, speakers, classroom tools, preservation initiatives, and more.
